Cashmere is very delicate fibers. They require an exceptional type of care. The care instruction provided on the label may not be sufficient to understand. If your cashmere product like sweater or scarves have short or recycle or cheap fiber, then the caring or handling becomes more difficult.
In fact, Such short fibered products are not cashmere.
But if you do have a genuine cashmere product then follow these steps to care it properly.
- Most of the cashmere products labeled as DRY CLEAN ONLY. But dry-clean does not preserve the softness of the cashmere product.
- Do not use strong detergent
- Cashmere is the most excellent wool, so choose the unique cleanser made for woolen products
- If you can't find such detergent then use a mild detergent like baby shampoo
- If you can find silicon-based softner, you can use it with mild detergent, or if you see silicon softner based mild detergent or shampoo, you can use that too.
- Using mild cleaning agent enhances the properties of feeling, color, etc.
- You can hand or machine wash using cold water but be sure to apply gentle cycle.
Washing machine instruction: Keep washing mode gentle (wool) as shown below:
Use inlet water cold. Use only mild detergent like baby shampoo. Maximum washing time 5 minutes.
Do not set washing mode other than gentle(wool). You can spin it but do not make it completely dry.
If above picture is not visible, please the see picture below and select Gentle (wool) not FUZZY.
Other important tips: You can wash using hand washing method too. But hair gain be gentle while washing
Ironing: Use steam iron only. Dry iron fades the color and makes it a bit hard too. Steam enhances the look, feel, color.
While using steam iron select the wool option from rotating knob. Please read your product manual and find how to select the desired option for different fabric.
A moth is a kind of insect which attacks cashmere product and make the hole on it.So a mothproof agent can be used while making the product but every product is no made using moth proof chemical.The best way of keeping the attack from moth is to use camphor. It is also known as Mothballs
When the cloth is stored out of season mothball has been used for years now. It is proven a fact, the moth which attacks cashmere item make holes on it.So while storing them use the mothball covering or placing properly.
