Painted Silk,cashmere scarf steaming

How to steam Cashmere, silk scarves

Silk and cashmere are printed or painted using acid dyes, fixed only after proper steaming. Before steaming, all scarves have to be dried properly. After drying them properly, each scarf has to be warped either using lightweight cotton cloth (also called muslin) or, more correctly, finely woven breathable fabric or paper (Like newspaper).

Small fabric can be steamed from a steam-generating pot, like a pressure cooker used in a kitchen. The steam from such a cooker has to be transformed into a custom-made closed vessel known as a steam box.

But if we are steaming large volumes, we must go for a steam ager machine. They are classified as 1 Continuous and 2 Discontinuous.
Continuous and discontinuous are both explanatory, so they are just termed as ongoing, moving, or static.

They might be of two types if we do it on a static ager machine.

  1. Horizontal
  2. vertical
These machines are made for professional and industrial use.

Using small quantities or lengths can be steamed using a bamboo vegetable steamer. Using a double-boiler cooking pot also works.

The best example of it is Momo making pot.
An example is like this one of my youtube videos.

I WILL SHORTLY POST SUCH CUSTOMs-MADE STEAMER. STAY TUNED.

How to roll?

  1. Put the fabric on absorbent paper, like old newspaper or muslin cloth.
  2. Roll the fabric and paper gently. Please let the painted fabric be on the inside.
  3. Push the end of the roll in the center and use masking tape to close it. Let it be like a package.

Steaming

  1. Place it in the steamer. Make sure no water drops come from the top and sides.
  2. Let the water in the base of the steamer don't come up by any means.
  3. The package must not get wet for that reason to be on the safe side using aluminum foil is the best.
  4. Keep it in the steamer for 40 minutes.
  5. Check the water level or find out how much water is needed for 40 minutes of steaming.

AFTER STEAMING, REMOVE ALL COVERINGS. AND NOW YOU CAN SEE ALL THE PAINTING LOOKS BRIGHT, VIBRANT, AND LOVELY THAT IS BECAUSE OF DYES GET THE REQUIRED TEMPERATURE TO BE PART OF THE FABRIC.

WASHING

  1. THE UNFIXED DYES HAVE TO BE WASHED OUT. LUKE WARM MILD SOAPY WATER IS BETTER TO USE; WASHING removes NOT ONLY EXCESS DYES BUT ALSO ALL AUXILIARIES CHEMICALS, PRINTING GUM, UREA ETC.
  2. WASHING UNTIL YOU GET CLEARWATER IS ADVISABLE.
  3. SOME DYES LIKE RED, NAVY BLUE, AND BLACK REQUIRE MULTIPLE WASHING.
  4. AFTER WASHING, THEY SHOULD Squeeze USING HYDRO EXTRACTOR MACHINE.
  5. SILK AND CASHMERE SCARVES CAN BE IRONED WHILE THEY ARE A LITTLE DAMP BY USING A STEAM IRON.
  6. IF ANY SOLVENT-BASED AUXILURIES ARE THERE, LIKE SOLVENT-BASED GUTTA, THEN IT HAS TO BE WASHED USING A DRY CLEANING AGENT LIKE SPIRIT OR WHITE PETROL.

THANKS, GOODLUCK
AND HAPPY STEAMING:
