RGB Vs CYMK

Most of the latest printers print both RGB and CYMK  image modes. But what happens when you convert an RGB image to CYMK. The image below describes this issue.

Generally, RGB mode is for display purposes whereas CYMK mode is for print purpose

If you look at the RGB image it has a very bright blue color after converting it to CMYK it is converted into a very dull blue color. If the printer supports the RGB print mode profile it prints that bright color.

What happens when you convert RGB to CYMK

1 Converts an image too dark suitable for print
2. Bright color converts into the dark (also Dull)
3 file size increases nearly by 25%

This RGB image shows its size 568 k. Let's see CYMK converted image

RGB image was 568 now CYMK image became 757.4

Now if we calculate the increased size, it has increased by nearly 35%

So if you have an RGB image don't convert it into CYMK, cause it increases the size and occupies more space in your disk, and takes time for email attachments and web upload.
whenever you want to print open the image in Photoshop and convert it from the image mode menu.

Thanks
